The Team Lineup:
Pitcher (Automation Technology) – the most important position during any baseball game. Teams win and lose with the right player.
Catcher (Data Historian) – the most physically demanding position in baseball. This player knows all and interprets the play to their teammates on the field.
First Baseman (Project Manager) – often has to “scoop” one-hop throws or pick low throws out of the dirt. A good first baseman sees the steal before it happens.
Second Baseman (OpEx) – requires quick lateral movement to reach balls hit to their right and left.
Shortstop (MES) – considered to be among the most demanding defensive positions. Without a good shortstop the opposing team can score if the miss the ball.
Third Baseman (Continuous Improvement) – the “hot corner”.
Right Fielder (Software Technology) – possess the strongest throwing arm in a team’s outfield group allowing them to reach the furthest point of any player on the field.
Center Fielder (Intelligent Sensors) – considered the “captain” of the outfield, speed and range crucial. They control the current and future control of the game along with the catcher.
Left Fielder (Batch Expert) – the least demanding defensive position in baseball but without their support the shortstop and third baseman are unsupported.
Manager (Information and Operational Technology) – plays a crucial role in interacting with the media and managing the atmosphere in the clubhouse.
